On a new build or a major renovation, the electrical installation touches almost every other trade. Cables run through the structure before it is closed up, lighting depends on joinery, heating controls depend on the plumber, and the kitchen depends on all of them. The electrical contractor’s job is as much coordination as installation.
What we deliver
- Design input at drawing stage: supply and intake position, consumer unit location, circuit design, lighting and power layouts
- Temporary supplies for the build where required
- First fix: cable routes, back boxes, containment, ducts and draw wires before plaster and screed
- Second fix: accessories, fittings, consumer unit and connection of equipment
- Provision for others: supplies and containment for heating controls, ventilation, security, AV, data and EV charging
- Testing and certification of the complete installation
Our guide to first fix and second fix explains what happens at each stage and what you need to decide before it.
How we work on a project
Drawings first. We work from the architect’s plans, the kitchen design, any lighting design and the M&E layout. Where these do not exist yet, we produce the electrical layouts with you.
Programme. Electrical work is sequenced against the build programme so first fix is complete before plasterers arrive and second fix follows decoration.
One point of contact. Questions and changes go through one person who knows the project.
Records. Cable routes are photographed before walls close, and as-installed information is handed over with the certificates.
Renovations
A major renovation combines new-build methods with an existing structure: lifting floors, opening walls, working around retained features, and often living in part of the house. Read electrical considerations when renovating for the decisions worth making early.
